Environmental, Safety and Sanitation Officer

Role Profile:

The Environmental, Safety and Sanitation Officer (ESSO) reports to VP for HR & Admin and Admin Manager. Ensures that compliance, implementation and development of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS), Pollution Control, Sanitation and Pest Control policies and programs is provided to the organization.

Responsible in maintaining a secure and compliant working environment for both employees and clients.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Create and review documents related to safety, environmental, pest control, sanitation and other related materials.
2. Ensures compliance with occupational health and safety (OHS) guidelines.
3. Establish communication and collaboration with relevant government agencies, such as the Bureau of Fire and Protection, Department of Labor and Employment, Laguna Lake Development Authority, and Department of Environment and Natural Resources, to ensure compliance with regulations and address any potential issues.
4. Identification of impacts/hazards and in the preparation of risk assessments and training of employees with regard to environmental, health & safety initiatives.
5. To comply with the requirements of Presidential Decree 1586, Republic Act (RA) 6969, RA 8749, RA 9003, RA 9275, their respective implementing rules and regulations, and other relevant laws and regulations.
6. Ensuring compliance and implementation under environmental management systems within the establishment, including:
   – Air pollution control devices stipulated in DENR Administrative Order (DAO) 2000-03
   – Compliance in DAO 2014-02 Revised guidelines for PCO accreditation.
   – Managing hazardous waste management storage areas (permanent or temporary)
   – Overseeing Solid waste segregation/management facilities (i.e. MRFs, Waste cage, etc.)
7. Monitoring and implementation of environmental and safety protocols inside the plant premises (i.e. Fire Extinguisher, Fire Exit and Fire Hose Cabinet are free from any obstruction, ensuring all personnel are wearing the appropriate PPE in their area, proper waste segregation etc.)
8. Serves as secretary to the Safety Committee.
